Cha Cha Cha Changes!

Hey all,

Just wanted to give you a quick update on life. It’s been a ridiculously crazy, unpredictable, and stressful year. And I can pretty much say year, because it’s now November. Woah.

After a lot of back and forth, various job offers and a job on the fritz, Andrew and I were blessed with a great opportunity in the Washington D.C. area. He accepted a fantastic job, with a reputable company. Ah, finally, some stability. It’s still a big transition for this born&raised Florida girl. Not to mention, we’re living with my parents at the moment. Going from a 2,000 sq. foot home, to a 200 sq. foot basement room has certainly required lots of resourcefulness and patience. For now, it’s our best option. And we’re thankful for it. We’re still familiarizing ourselves with the city and the company is in a temporary space at the moment. So, we wait. In the meantime, we pay off a ton of debt – and set ourselves up for success in the future.

An added bonus to all this is that I decided upon moving here that I was going to pursue a different career path. Nothing that I necessarily needed to be trained for, just something I thought might suit me better than the restaurant life. While I’ve had some incredible moments in various restaurants over the past few years – I ultimately didn’t feel like it was the best fit for me. I have a love for food, to create, to plan and execute a killer menu. I still think someday in the future I could have my own small establishment, but for now – it’s not for me. I decided to pursue a office coordinator/office manager position.

I based my search off of tech companies. Why? Because they have great working environments. Oddly enough, I found my husbands company was hiring. So, I said, why not? What do I have to lose?

After four different interviews, I got it.

I changed directions. Just like that. I pivoted. I am redefining myself. Again.

Am I nervous? Um. Yes. Extremely. But I’m excited. There is a great chance that this is the sort of job I was made for – and I want to feel that sense of belonging. This job could give me the ability to do something I enjoy during the day, and come home to do the things I enjoy at night. I still hope to post food/recipe/craft posts, once we’re a little more settled – probably when we have our own place.

Prayers as I start this new journey, and for our little families transition to NoVa.

Find it,

Rachel
