About

Welcome!

We’re the Gassens. That fierce canine telling us a joke is our dog Roux (just wait until you see his face!). The handsome man on the left is my sweet husband Andrew, and the one holding the squeaky snow cone is me, Rachel. In reality, we’re all very new to each other. Andrew and I got married back in February, by April we had Roux. Our family is just beginning! We plan to have a big family in the future, but we’ve got some goals we’d like to meet before we have any little G’s.

Andrew (known by some as Big A) is a brilliant man really, I’ve never met someone so creative. His mind can be in 15 places at once, while I’m just focused on my one measly thought.  He’s got one of those business minds, so he’s always thinking of new ways to make old things better… and how to turn a profit from it. Currently he’s working at an education software company, but has much higher aspirations for the future. He loves video games and technology, and he’s big into sports, especially football. If you didn’t guess from his size, he played once upon a time. He loves food, but we’ve recently discovered he has Celiac disease and a dairy allergy… so, we’re trying to learn the in’s & out’s of that. Andrew is my best friend, and while he probably won’t be posting on here (or maybe he will?!), he’ll be mentioned often I’m sure! I am so blessed to have a husband who shares the same values and beliefs as myself, I truly Cherish him.

So, who am I? It’s always a debate for me, as to which role I place first. Sure, I am a chef, but does that define me? Not necessarily. I am a wife, but I haven’t been long. I am a mix of many roles, as most people are. I love crafts and projects, I once considered being a carpenter. I am Roux’s mom, and poop cleaner. I am a pretty good volleyball player, but I hardly play. I am the maid, but I don’t get paid. (Ha!) This really isn’t that difficult, I just wanted to save this for last (because that’s where the best goes, right?). I am a follower of Christ, I am following the narrow way He gave us. It’s not the easiest, but it’s fulfilling my soul daily. I’m definitely not perfect, but I am a perfectionist. I will never stop growing in Him, and He will never stop loving me for exactly who I am, whichever role you want to put there.

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

Matthew 7:13-14
